Skyridge sophomore safety Jaxon Peck intercepted Corner Canyon quarterback Zach Wilson's pass with 22 seconds left in the fourth quarter as the Falcons capped a comeback road victory, 31-28, Friday night.

The Falcons and Chargers traded scores in the closing minutes of a wild fourth quarter. Skyridge took their final lead with 1:02 left in the game as senior wide receiver Wyatt Parkinson caught a Cody Frampton pass on fourth-and-8 at the Charger 45 and weaved his way for the go-ahead score.

Wilson connected with wide receiver Colton Lawson on a 56-yard play to reach the Skyridge 6 before the interception clinched it for the Falcons (4-1), who trailed 21-7 at halftime.

"They came back to a look that we saw earlier and they beat us with," Skyridge coach Jon Lehman said. "It's tough to see that backside safety, which was [Peck] come up and it was just a really smart play as he read it and stepped in front of it."

The Chargers dropped to 2-3 after the 4A Region VII defeat.

"The kids showed a lot of character losing the lead and then coming back," Corner Canyon coach Don Eck said. "At the end we just didn't finish. It's a tough one."

The Chargers scored on three of their first four possessions, as they dominated the ball and the clock in the first half.

After stopping the Falcons on their opening drive, Wilson found Lawson for 30 yards to convert a key third down to the Skyridge 12. With 6:10 left in the first quarter, Spencer Seamans came in and scored on a 2-yard dive for a 7-0 lead after the extra point.

With 3:03 remaining in the first, the Chargers began a 78-yard march as Wilson found Lawson on a perfectly executed post route to the Skyridge 12. On the next play, Wilson found Lawson for a 14-0 lead.

The Falcons were able to answer thanks to some good fortune. They recovered a fumbled punt at the Corner Canyon 19 and two plays later, Frampton evaded two tacklers, rolled to his right and hit Nathan Upham for a touchdown. The PAT cut the Chargers' lead to 14-7.

Wilson and Lawson went back to work, however, as they capped a 10-play drive with a 13-yard touchdown pass to give Corner Canyon a 21-7 lead going into intermission. —
