Former Brighton High star Osa Masina has been suspended from all football activities and ordered to vacate the University of Southern California amid a continuing sexual assault investigation.
Masina, who has is being investigated by police in Los Angeles and Cottonwood Heights, was placed on "interim suspension" and had until Monday evening to leave the university pending the review of a Title IX complaint that had been filed against the sophomore linebacker, said his attorney, Salt Lake defense lawyer Greg Skordas.
Last month, the Los Angeles Police Department executed a search warrant as part of an investigation into two allegations of sexual assault in California and Utah earlier in the summer. So far, no criminal charges have been filed.
Masina had not been allowed to play in USC's first two games of the season but, until recently, had been allowed to practice with the team. Now he has been barred from any contact with the team and forbidden from attending school functions.
USC linebacker Don Hill has also been named as a suspect in the Los Angeles Police Department's investigation and, according to reports, was also suspended from team activities this week.
Masina was a Salt Lake Tribune MVP and Max Preps second-team All-American as a senior at Brighton. During his freshman season at USC, he finished with 25 tackles. He also returned a fumble for a touchdown.
