Provo • Michele Vasconcelos scored twice in the second half to help the No. 7 BYU women's soccer team in a 4-0 shutout over the SMU Mustanges on Thursday night.

The Cougars (5-1) logged their second straight shutout and Vasconcelos recorded her fourth game with multiple goals.

Ashley Hatch had two assists for BYU and senior Paige Hunt Barker put the Cougars on the board 30 minutes into the game with her first goal of the season.

Vasconcelos' first goal of the night came two minutes into the second half. Hatch passed the ball to Vasconcelos, who scored from the penalty spot.

Two minutes later, Hatch sent another crossing pass to Elena Medeiros, who drove the ball in to boost BYU's lead to 3-0.

Vasconcelos added her second goal in the 71st minute, off an assist from freshman Brynlee Welch.

Cougars goalkeeper Hannah Clark made two saves and her Mustangs counterpart, freshman Catie Brown, saved four.

Women's Volleyball

Utah State 3, UC Riverside 0 • The Aggies beat UC Riverside in straight sets for their first match of the day.

Utah State senior Kaylie Kamalu-Smith led with 10 kills in the Aggies' 25-12, 25-7, 25-13 victory.

Portland State 3, Utah State 2 • The Aggies won the first two sets before Portland State rallied to win.

Men's Soccer

Westminster 2, Hawaii Hilo 0 OT • The Griffins overcame a first-half deficit to defeat Hawaii Hilo in overtime.
