Kate Sisler and Dominique Estrada scored as Copper Hills remained unbeaten in Region 3 action with a 2-0 victory against host Brighton on Tuesday afternoon.

Copper Hills has outscored its region foes by an aggregate 19-0, a start that has been "a long time coming" for the Grizzlies, says coach Ryan Rumfallo.

"It feels really good. Being from around these parts for a long time, Brighton is always extremely good. It was really good to come up here and get a win on the road against a team like that," Rumfallo said. "We still have a lot of region play left, so we're not celebrating anything yet, we're just going to get back to it and stick with what has been working."

The Grizzlies got on the scoreboard in the 11th minute. Copper Hills goalie McCaslin Davis' long kick went into Brighton's side of the field and after a few bounces, Sisler got behind the Bengals defense and flicked the ball over opposing goalie AJ Parker for the 1-0 lead.

"That's kind of what we do," Sisler said. "Once the ball went over, I knew it was mine until the goalie came out. Once I saw she was way out, I just had to place it."

The Grizzlies had to maintain their defensive intensity in the second half to protect the lead. Brighton came out and began to pressure Copper Hills' midfield and backline, getting off several shots in the first few minutes of the half.

With her team under pressure and struggling to maintain possession, Estrada saw a chance when she was awarded a free kick in the area of the center line dividing the field. After launching her free kick toward goal, Estrada was mobbed by her teammates after the ball dipped under the crossbar and over the fingertips of Parker for a 2-0 lead.

"I was definitely aiming for the top corner," Estrada said. "The ball felt like it had been up there for a while and then all of a sudden it just drops in and hits the net … I practice that as often as I can, I want to make those count in games. It was the moment I had been waiting for all season, it felt so good to finally score after all the chances I had gotten so far and make it count for my team."

Many were surprised to see Estrada score from that distance, but Rumfallo knew it was a matter of time for his midfielder.

"We know what she's capable of … it's definitely not the first time we've seen something like that from her," Rumfallo said. "We know that if there's anything 20-plus yards out, she's our girl to take them. She just has that power and accuracy and she's confident with it. When [Brighton] were all over us like they were, sometimes you can just breathe a sigh of relief when you get a chance like that." —
