Former Cy Young Award winner Tim Lincecum allowed one run on four hits in seven innings Sunday night, but Salt Lake needed Brendan Ryan's bases loaded single with two out in the 11th to score a 4-3 win over Las Vegas.

Turning Point • The 51s' T.J. Rivera and Johnny Monell opened the top of the second inning with back-to-back doubles to tie the score, 1-1. But Lincecum retired the next three batters to survive his only bump in the road and put Salt Lake in position to snap a two-game losing streak.

Bees MVP • Lincecum threw 96 pitches, including 61 strikes. He retired 17 of the final 20 batters he faced, including eight in a row during one stretch. Only two Vegas runners advanced past first base — Rivera and Monell.

Hidden Hero • Salt Lake's Johnny Giavotella played well in a rare start at third base. He handled six chances without an error. At one point, Lincecum retired four straight batters on ground balls to him.

Flashing Leather • With Monell on second and one out in the second, the 51s' Roger Bernadina chopped a grounder over the mound. Shortstop Rey Navarro charged, grabbed the ball on a short hop and fired to first. He retired Bernadina by a half-step.

HISTORY LESSON • The Bees are going to shatter the franchise record for fewest home runs in a season. With one game left, they've hit (68) homers. The record is 92. Cal Towey leads Salt Lake with nine. He wasn't called up from Class AA Arkansas until June 11.

Angel Angle • The Angels announced pitching prospect Nate Smith has been shut down for the rest of the season because of left elbow tendinitis. Smith started against Las Vegas on Saturday night but left after two innings.

What's next • Monday: Las Vegas (Josh Zeid, 2-2) vs. Salt Lake (Kyle Kendrick, 6-4), 1:05 p.m. Radio: 1280 AM. —
