Zach Wilson was unflappable, Kaden Wright was unblockable and Jason Adams was unstoppable.

Corner Canyon throttled hosts Roy 36-6 Friday night in a statement win that the Chargers are ready to rebound in 4A powered by their dual-threat quarterback, fearsome pass rush and versatile running back.

"These guys would be cream of the crop in our region, so that's a real good win for us," Corner Canyon coach Don Eck said.

The Chargers jumped out to an early lead after a Roy fumble on a bad snap, ending in a 2-yard touchdown plunge from Adams.

Wilson threw to Adams for a second score in the second quarter on a 17-yard screen pass, taking a 14-0 lead with 11 minutes until halftime.

Wilson, who finished the game with 165 yards passing and a touchdown, said the team studied more film than ever leading up to this game, estimating 10 hours of study for himself alone.

"I think we're definitely building … Our confidence is getting higher," the quarterback said.

Adams was physical and versatile, scoring once through the air and twice on the ground, including a bruising 48-yard touchdown where he broke through at least five tackles.

The real calling card of this victory, however, was dominance from the team's defensive front four.

Led by Wright's five sacks, the Chargers defense harassed Roy quarterback Jaden Sabin with 10 sacks, forced two fumbles and two interceptions — the first of which was returned for a touchdown by defensive end Adam Chandler.

"Our defensive staff came up with a great plan for them," Eck said. "We put in a front that we haven't ran yet this year … Early, that threw them off a little bit."

Roy broke the shutout in the third quarter, Sabin finding Angel Arvizo for a 28-yard touchdown pass.

But the damage was done, capped off with consecutive interceptions on Sabin's final two passes of the game.

"Teams are going to fear us now," Wright said. "I think we're the number one 'D' in the state. I just love it."

Snake-bitten by injuries last year, the Chargers head into region play with swagger and a punishing identity.

"If we stay healthy, I think this team can go a long way in the state playoffs," Eck said.
