Playing its third game in five days, the Utah soccer team wtill had enough left in the tank to beat visiting Beijing Normal University 5-1 in a Tuesday afternoon friendly at Ute Field.

Paola van der Veen scored twice and Ireland Dunn, Ella Ballstaedt and Holly Daguirda each added a goal to lead the Utes.

Fourteen minutes into the match, Van der Veen received the ball at the top of the penalty area from Max Flom and the Dutch sophomore rocketed her try to the bottom left corner for a 1-0 lead.

Utah made it 2-0 in the 38th minute when Haylee Cacciacarne played a ball out of the back up the near left side to Dunn. The freshman turned to the middle and away she went, unleashing a shot into the top of the goal from just outside the box.

Van der Veen struck again in the second half, crushing a free kick from just inside the center circle that wriggled through the Beijing goalkeeper's hands. Five minutes later, Addie Jensen took the ball away from a Beijing player and fed Van der Veen. The sophomore played a lovely thru-ball to Ballstaedt who raced away from her defender and beat the keeper to the lower left side.

Jensen was back in the middle of the action two minutes later, dishing to Natalie Vukic in the middle of the pitch. The junior forward was able to locate a cutting Daugirda who out-paced her defender and hit a slow roller past the Beijing keeper for a 5-0 margin.

Beijing Normal did get on the board in the 74th minute when Zhang Yue was able to knock one home for the final score.

This concluded a four-game trip to the United States for the Chinese team. As part of the Pac-12's Conference's Global Initiative, it also played at USC, UCLA and Arizona State.
