Rio de Janeiro • Honduras' game plan lasted all of 15 seconds.

Brazilian superstar Neymar capitalized on a poor attempted clearance by the Honduras back line to score a deflected goal off goalkeeper Luis Lopez in the opening moments of Wednesday's Olympic semifinal match at The MaracanĂ£, and the floodgates opened from there.

Brazil cruised to a 6-0 win over Honduras to advance to Saturday's Olympic final, where it will face Germany. The Germans advanced to the final after topping Nigeria 2-0 later Wednesday in Rio de Janeiro.

Forward Gabriel Jesus scored goals in the 26th and 35th minutes to provide Brazil with a 3-0 halftime cushion. Center back Marquinhos tacked on a goal in the 51st minute to make it a 4-0 lead. Winger Luan added to the running rally in the 79th minute as Brazil took a 5-0 lead.

Neymar scored a stoppage-time penalty to cap a perfect day for the Brazilians.

Honduras will play Nigeria in Saturday's bronze-medal match in a meeting of two of the tournament's underdogs. Honduras managed to escape a tough draw in Group D lumped in with Portugal, Argentina and Algeria. The Hondurans went 1-1-1 and advanced on goal differential. In its quarterfinal match, Honduras forward Alberth Elis scored the game-winner against South Korea.

Real Monarchs' midfielder Elder Torres was again in the Honduras game-day roster, but did not play on Wednesday.
