Salt Lake got within one run in the seventh with two runners on but fell short of converting on Wednesday night, as the Bees lost 4-3 to the New Orleans Zephyrs thanks large in part to three solo home runs hit in the fifth, sixth and seventh inning. Both teams finished with 10 hits.

Turning Point • The Bees led 2-1 heading into the fourth inning, but that dissipated in the next three innings. The Zephyrs batters blasted three separate solo home runs to left to take a 4-2 lead.

Bees MVP • A consistent batter as of late, Cal Towey had another solid outing, going 3-for-4 and scoring two of the three Bees' runs of the night.

Hidden Hero • Finishing 2-for-5 on the night, Rafael Ortega got the Bees on the scoreboard first in the third inning with an RBI to right center.

Flashing Leather • Down 4-2 in the seventh and with a runner on first, Bees shortstop Brendan Ryan turned a 6-4-3 double play that kept the Zephyrs off the scoreboard.

Quoteworthy • "I'm going to say between 8-15 times that that could or should have happened. Either I figured out the last second or one of the young guys kind of blew it for everyone and told me that I had the wrong jersey on kind of thing. I was proud of the guys that they let me make a fool of myself that time." — Ryan, about wearing the wrong jersey before the first pitch.

Angel angle • Catcher Carlos Perez was called up to Los Angeles on Wednesday to provide depth while Geovany Soto deals with an ailing thumb. Perez batted eighth against the Seattle Mariners.

History Lesson • August 17, 2004: Dallas McPherson equaled a club record with two triples and two home runs for four extra base hits in the Stingers 13-2 win over Edmonton.

What's next • Thursday: Salt Lake (LHP Nate Smith, 7-7, 4.97) vs. New Orleans (RHP Asher Wojciechowski). —
