Rio de Janeiro • Brazil pulled away in the fourth quarter Monday afternoon, beating Nigeria 86-69 and maintaining its hopes of advancing to the quarterfinals of the Olympic men's basketball tournament.

Jazz guard Raul Neto posted four points and five assists for Brazil (2-3), which needs Argentina to beat Spain later Monday, allowing the host team to move ahead of Spain and into the knockout stage.

Neto was on the court for most of Brazil's surge in the second quarter. He didn't play as well in the second half when Nigeria cut into his team's big lead, getting as close as four points. NBA veteran Nene helped Brazil regain control in the fourth quarter and finished with 19 points. Veteran point guard Marcelo Huertas added 12 points and 11 assists.
