Stefen Romero blasted a three-run homer with two out in the top of the 11th inning Saturday night, leading Tacoma to a 4-1 victory over Salt Lake. In front of 13,128 fans at Smith's Ballpark, Romero hit a 3-2 pitch from Mike Morin far beyond the fence in left field.

Turning Point • The Bees had a chance to win in the bottom of the ninth. With one out, they loaded the bases on walks to Kaleb Cowart and Cal Towey and a single by Rafael Ortega. But after working the count to 3-1, Ryan Jackson bounced into a 5-4-3 double play.

Bees' MVP • Salt Lake starting pitcher Chris Jones had his best outing of the year. He allowed one run on two hits in six innings. In his previous six starts, he allowed 34 earned runs on 47 hits in 29 innings.

Hidden hero • Salt Lake catcher Anthony Bemboom caught two Tacoma base runners who tried to steal in extra innings. He threw out Patrick Kivlehan with one out in the 10th and Zack Shank with one out in the 11th, before Romero's homer.

Flashing leather • With a runner on first base and one out in the third, Tacoma's Tyler Smith ripped a line drive at Ortega in left field. He successfully battled the sun and made a difficult catch.

Angel angle • The Angels have recalled catcher Carlos Perez. To make room for him, Juan Graterol was sent back to Salt Lake. In 46 games in Triple-A this season, he's hitting .292 with one homer and 19 RBIs.

History lesson • On July 23, 2006, Tucson handed Salt Lake its worst defeat in franchise history, 28-5. The Sidewinders pounded out 29 hits and scored six runs or more in three different innings.
