Sandy • Real Salt Lake's search for a shutout finally came to an end Saturday night. It will be a footnote. For the third straight match in Sandy, RSL couldn't earn maximum points at home in its 0-0 draw with the visiting New England Revolution at Rio Tinto Stadium.

RSL (8-6-6, 30 points) now has just seven points from a possible 15 from its five home matches in June and July. The team, still undefeated at home, registered its first shutout since its 1-0 win over Vancouver on April 16.

Yura Movsisyan's heel-flick attempt in the 62nd minute spun wide of the goal after getting on the end of a Demar Phillips cross into the box. Movsisyan beat his defender to the spot, but couldn't cleanly connect to put RSL up against the Revolution. In the 71st minute, Movsisyan had another good chance fall when New England goalkeeper Bobby Shuttleworth made a crucial kick save off his line.

New England forward Kei Kamara saw his 50th-minute goal waved off by the assistant referee when Kamara made contact with RSL center back Aaron Maund. Kamara sent the ball past goalkeeper Nick Rimando with his left foot after grabbing Maund's right shoulder, but it did not stand.

Kyle Beckerman had RSL's best chance of the first half in the 15th minute. The RSL captain found himself in the right place at the right time after Luke Mulholland's shot off a corner kick by Javier Morales bounced into the ground and over a sea of players in the Revolution box. But Beckerman's near-post shot was kept out of the net by Shuttleworth, whose one-handed save kept the game scoreless at the time.

Five minutes into the match, Joao Plata skied his golden opportunity when forward Burrito Martinez recovered the ball in a mad scramble in front of goal and flicked the ball with the back of his heel toward Plata. The left-footed shot from close range soared over the net.

RSL returns to action Tuesday night when it hosts Italian Serie A club Inter Milan in an international friendly. Two days later, the club returns to MLS action against the San Jose Earthquakes Friday night in Sandy. —
