Vancouver, British Columbia • Real Salt Lake's Nick Rimando will have to wait a little while longer to tie Major League Soccer goalkeeper records.

Rimando was given a rest Wednesday night as RSL visited the Vancouver Whitecaps at B.C. Place Stadium. That means Rimando is still one win shy of former FC Dallas, Sporting Kansas City and New York Red Bulls goalkeeper Kevin Hartman's record of 123 wins.

Rimando also remains three games back of Hartman's all-time starts record of 267. Rimando, a 37-year-old Montclair, Calif., native, has started all 264 of the games that he has played for RSL over the past 10 seasons. He is in his 18th MLS season overall.

Backup Jeff Attinella received the start in place of Rimando, who was among RSL's reserves. Attinella made his fourth start of the MLS season.

Lineup changes

RSL coach Jeff Cassar was forced to make lineup changes Wednesday as a suspension and injuries took their toll. As a result, he stuck with only five starters from the Montreal game.

Captain Kyle Beckerman drew an unwanted night off due to yellow-card accumulation. He surpassed his quota of five after being cautioned in the 76th minute of last Saturday's 1-1 draw with Montreal. His troubles started against Vancouver in April as he took his first yellow card of the season April 16 at Rio Tinto Stadium.

Meanwhile, attacking midfielder Joao Plata sat out with a hamstring injury suffered Saturday against Montreal. Defender Jamison Olave was also sidelined with a hamstring problem after getting hurt in warm-ups prior to the Montreal game. Defender Demar Phillips missed Wednesday's contest due to a calf injury suffered in training this week.

Scene of crime

Usually, Cassar has to monitor his players for disciplinary issues. But the RSL coach faced pressure of sorts to remain disciplined Wednesday night.

He returned to the sideline in Vancouver after being banished from B.C. Place midway through a game last August for arguing with an official. That was the first of two games from which Cassar was dismissed last season.
