Former Utah State standout and Super Bowl champion Robert Turbin was cited for possession of marijuana at a traffic stop last week, a day before the Aggies' all-time rushing touchdown leader hosted a youth football camp in Logan.

Logan Police Capt. Curtis Hooley said just before 11:30 p.m. on July 8, the 26-year-old Turbin ran a stop sign at 800 North and 200 West.

An officer said he smelled burnt marijuana in the vehicle, and a K-9 indicated the presence of drugs. Police say they found a marijuana cigarette in the car's center console.

Turbin did not appear impaired, Hooley said. He was cited at the scene and allowed to drive away. On July 9, Turbin hosted a youth football academy at Utah State University.

Turbin faces a class B misdemeanor charge and is scheduled for arraignment July 26.

Seattle drafted Turbin in the fourth round in 2012. He rushed for 25 yards in Super Bowl XLVII and 21 yards in Super Bowl XLIX, and later played for Cleveland and Dallas. He signed a free agent contract with Indianapolis in March.

Marijuana is on the NFL's banned substances list. League policy says that should Turbin admit to the offense or be convicted, "[a]bsent aggravating circumstances, discipline for a first offense will be a suspension without pay for up to four regular and/or post-season games."

Turbin ranks fifth all-time in Utah State history with 3,315 rushing yards and tied for first in rushing touchdowns, with 40.

In May, Turbin flew in to Salt Lake City to visit a Utah State fan who was partially paralyzed by a mountain biking accident.
