Zlatan Ibrahimovic has told the world his secret: He's joining Manchester United.
The enigmatic Swedish striker said Thursday on his official Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts that his next club will be the English Premier League giant. Ibrahimovic would be joining as a free agent, with his contract at Paris Saint-Germain expiring in the offseason.
The English Premier League club is making no comment.
"Time to let the world know. My next destination is ManUtd," the 34-year-old Ibrahimovic told his 3.74 million followers on Twitter above an image of United's club badge. He said the same on his Instagram account.
Sections of the British media are reporting that Ibrahimovic will join on an initial one-year deal.
Ibrahimovic, who retired from international duty with Sweden after his country's group-stage exit from the European Championship last week, has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent weeks. He told a news conference while on international duty last month that he had made a decision on his next club, but would not elaborate.
Ibrahimovic would be linking up with former coach Jose Mourinho, who got on well with the pony-tailed forward during their time together at Inter Milan in the 2008-09 season.
It would be Ibrahimovic's first stint in England, having also played for Malmo, Ajax, Juventus, Barcelona and AC Milan. He has won league titles in four countries, most recently for four seasons in a row at PSG. Last season, Ibrahimovic scored 38 goals in 31 games in France's Ligue 1, putting him second behind Luis Suarez in the list of top scorers in Europe's top five leagues.
A serial winner of trophies like Mourinho, Ibrahimovic said recently that, at 34, he is "only warming up."
"I have proved age is just a number," he said. "Everything is in your head. Whatever you want to do, you will do it. It's a mind game. If I want to make it, I'll make it."
Mourinho has already signed Ivory Coast defender Eric Bailly since being announced as United manager last month, and the signing of Ibrahimovic would add competition in the striker department that was lacking at United last season under the now-departed coach, Louis van Gaal.
Marcus Rashford, aged 18, finished the season as United's No. 1 striker after Wayne Rooney dropped back into midfield and Anthony Martial was preferred as a left winger.
United didn't qualify for the coming season's Champions League.
