Things were going well for the Salt Lake Bees through six innings, leading the visiting Las Vegas 51's 4-3. Starting pitcher Nate Smith was solid, and the bats resurfaced after a two day disappearing act. However, things unraveled in the seventh when relief pitcher Geoff Broussard allowed four runs, capped by a mammoth three-run home run by Johnny Monell. The Bees eventually succumbed to the visitors 8-4.

Turning Point • Relief pitcher Geoff Broussard committed baseball's cardinal sin not once but twice in allowing leadoff walks to Gavin Cecchini and Brandon Nimmo to begin the seventh. Both players would eventually score and the Bees' precarious one-run lead evaporated.

Bees MVP • First baseman Ji-Man Choi accounted for three of the Bees' four runs on the evening. Choi launched Salt Lake's 30th home run of the season in the first, batted in Quinton Berry on a deep sacrifice in the third, and eventually scored after recording a leadoff double in the sixth. Choi finished 3-for-4 on the night.

Hidden Hero • With four runs scored for the 51's in the seventh and only one out recorded, Lucas Luetge relieved the erratic Broussard and induced consecutive groundouts to end the inning.

Flashing Leather • With the 51's threatening in the sixth and the go-ahead run on second, Danny Muno lifted a ball into foul territory toward the Bees' bullpen. Choi darted down the line, reached into the stands and snagged the ball, preserving the tie.

Angel Angle • With Angels' starting pitcher Jhoulys Chacin lasting a mere two innings against the Houston Astros Monday night, it seems likely that the parent club will need a fresh arm from the Bees staff. Al Albuquerque and Javy Guerra would be likely candidates.

History Lesson • On June 12th, 2012, Kole Calhoun had four hits and three runs batted in, while Luis Jimenez added three hits and three RBIs, as the Bees rolled to a 13-5 win at Colorado Springs.
