Pittsford, N.Y. • Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim has received the American Cancer Society's Circle of Honor Award in recognition of his fundraising for cancer research.

Boeheim was honored at a dinner Sunday night at Oak Hill Country Club in the Rochester suburb of Pittsford, site of this year's Coaches vs. Cancer golf tournament earlier Sunday.

Tournament organizers say more than 400 guests attended the dinner. The event has become the principal charity of the National Association of Basketball Coaches.

Money raised will remain in the Rochester area and be used for research at the Wilmot Cancer Center and the University of Rochester Medical Center, among other local organizations.
