Tacoma. Wash. • Two-time Cy Young Award winner Tim Lincecum makes his first start for the Salt Lake Bees on Thursday night against Tacoma.

Lincecum underwent hip surgery last September. He signed with the Los Angeles Angels two weeks ago. L.A is the Triple-A affiliate of the Bees.

Currently, Lincecum is scheduled to make two starts for Salt Lake — both on the road — before joining the Angels for their game against Cleveland on June 12.

Last Saturday, Lincecum pitched five innings of an extended spring training game in Arizona. Angel manager Mike Scioscia told reporters the veteran right-hander was throwing between 87 and 91 mph and showed "good off speed stuff."

On Wednesday afternoon, meanwhile, Tacoma scored a 5-1 victory over Salt Lake. It was the Bees' seventh loss in their last eight games.

Kaleb Cowart, just back after a brief call-up by the Angels, had two of Salt Lake's four hits. Losing pitcher David Huff allowed four runs on eight hits in four innings.
