Joey Wendle hit a grand slam and BYU product Jaycob Brugman added a two-run blast Saturday night, leading Nashville to a 12-6 win over Salt Lake. In front of 11,228 fans at Smith's Ballpark, the Bees lost for the ninth time in 12 games.

Turning Point • The Sounds owned a 6-3 lead in the top of the fifth inning when, with the bases loaded, Wendle drilled an 0-1 fastball from Salt Lake starter Nate Smith over the fence in right field.

Bees MVP • Second baseman Sherman Johnson was called up from Double-A Arkansas on May 3. He entered the game hitting only. 179. But he went 2-for-4, including a two-run homer in the seventh.

Flashing Leather • With two out and a runner at first in the top of the third inning, Salt Lake's Quintin Berry preserved a 3-3 tie when he ran down Andrew Lambo's long line drive to the gap in right center.

Quoteworthy • On the rare bad start by Smith, Bees manager Keith Johnson said, "He threw some good pitches that got hit and every pitch he didn't put where he wanted to found some grass out there. He's been solid all year. I'm not that concerned with this outing. It's just a hiccup."

Angel Angle • Former Cy Young Award winner Tim Lincecum, signed by the Angels last week, remains on track to pitch for the Bees at Tacoma on Thursday and at Reno on June 7.

History Lesson • On May 28, 1999, the Salt Lake Buzz earned the 400th victory in franchise history by beating Edmonton, 8-6. Gus Gandarillas, who didn't allow a run in two inning of relief, was the winner.
