West Lafayette, Ind. • Purdue forward Caleb Swanigan, a Salt Lake City native, has withdrawn from the NBA draft and will return to school for his sophomore season.

The Boilermakers made the announcement before Tuesday's deadline.

Swanigan averaged 10.2 points and 8.3 rebounds and was named to the Big Ten's all-freshman team last season. The 6-foot-9, 250-pound former Indiana prep star worked out this week with the Indiana Pacers and said then that he still had to meet with Purdue coach Matt Painter and others before making a final decision.

The announcement came a day after swingman Vince Edwards announced he, too, would return to school for his junior season after initially announcing he would enter the draft.

Purdue was 26-9 last season and 12-6 in conference play.
