Utah State's Clancy Shields has been named the head men's tennis coach at the University of Arizona.

Utah State won a school-record 21 matches this season and captured the Aggies' first Mountain West Conference championship in any sport. Shields was named the league's Coach of the Year. Individually, sophomore Jaime Barajas was named the Mountain West Player of the Year. He joined junior Jack Swindells on the all-league team.

"We appreciate everything that Clancy did … during his three years here," said athletic director John Hartwell. "Winning a Mountain West championship was a great feat for Clancy and his student-athletes. We are confident that we will find the right coach to continue the upward trend of our program."

According to Hartwell, a national search is underway to find Shields' successor.
