Kansas City, Kan. • For the second time this season, Real Salt Lake used its rival's home venue to snap a streak.

RSL scored three times in a 21-minute segment to upend Sporting Kansas City 3-1 on Saturday.

It is unbeaten against Sporting KC over the past six meetings.

In April, it claimed its first victory at Children's Mercy Park. On Saturday, it put an end to a 231-minute scoring drought — then it added a couple more for good measure.

Joao Plata picked off a pass in the 32nd minute, igniting a tic-tac-toe string that Burrito Martinez finished off the first goal.

Real Salt Lake, 6-3-2, extended the margin to two on the final sequence of the first half. Yura Movsisyan sent a ball toward the middle of the penalty area, and it deflected off Sporting KC winger Brad Davis' back and into the goal. The play was ruled an own goal.

Movsisyan earned credit for the final, back-breaking tally. After Dom Dwyer pulled Sporting KC within one, Movsisyan effectively used the counter to beat a pair of defenders and loft a shot over Tim Melia, who had come off his line to defend the play.
