Logan • Utah State freshman defensive end Brady Holt was critically injured over the weekend in a one-car crash on I-15 near Willard.
Holt, 21, is from Riverton.
According to the Utah Highway Patrol, Holt was injured Saturday at 12:45 p.m. when his northbound SUV drifted into the median and crashed into wooden spools at a construction site. Holt overcorrected and, when the SUV rolled, he was thrown from the vehicle.
Holt, who not wearing a seat belt, was taken to Ogden Regional Medical Center.
On Monday, Holt's mother updated her son's condition on social media.
"As most of you have heard, Brady was in a very serious car accident over the weekend," she wrote. "This is his mom, Christy. Brady has been unconscious since they found him. This is what is most concerning to the doctors. They need him to wake up. We are praying for miracles for Brady. Thank you to all who have reached out to us, his sisters and our family. He is in the biggest fight of his life."
Investigators are trying to determine whether drowsy or inattentive driving may have been a factor. There were no witnesses to the crash.
