St. George • With the school located only 45 minutes from Bruce Hurst Field, the Enterprise Wolves got a chance to get their minds off baseball and return to a normal routine with schoolwork for half the day Friday.

By the time they arrived on campus at Dixie State for a semifinal showdown with North Sevier, the 2A South champions shook off a rough beginning and broke out the big bats to earn another shot at the state title.

Brandel Shumway allowed two runs and hit a two-run single as part of a four-run second inning, and Kayson Bundy added a two-run double in the fifth that helped Enterprise (20-5) finish off a 13-3 rout over the 2A East champion (22-3) in the battle of the Wolves.

Enterprise banged out 14 hits against three North Sevier pitchers. The victory wasn't surprising to head coach Kyle Bundy, but the margin and early ending due to the mercy rule definitely was.

"The ball went our way today. We just hit the gaps," Bundy said.

As it did Thursday in an 11-9 win over Summit Academy, Enterprise gave up two runs in the first inning and fell behind. Once Shumway settled in on the mound, the rest of his teammates kicked the offense into high gear.

"I knew our defense would back me up. All I had to do was concentrate and do my job," Shumway said.

Shumway threw only four innings, but retired nine North Sevier batters in a row before he was done. Enterprise added a run in the third when Chandler Bowler reached on a two-out error, then doubled its total with a five-run fourth against three different pitchers.

Kaden Prisbrey had a two-run double in the inning and scored on a wild pitch, Kabe Jones reached on a bases-loaded walk to push the Enterprise advantage to 10-2.

North Sevier scored a run in the top of the fifth on an RBI double from Fisher Andersen, but Enterprise avoided the big inning when Braxton Maxwell grounded into a double play.

Enterprise then punched its ticket to the title game in the bottom half with four straight hits, including a two-run double from Bundy away from the shift into open space in right field. The hit was Bundy's 49th career double, extending his lead on top of the UHSAA career list.

Prisbrey followed with a double of his own that scored Bundy and ended the game.

Enterprise will play either Grand or North Sevier for the 2A title Saturday at 11:30 a.m. needing only one win for its first state crown since 2011. Kyle Bundy believes even with the big advantage, the pressure will still be there to close the deal.

"There's always pressure because the first game is so crucial," Bundy said. "If we go in thinking we already have it, then it's a mental blowout and things don't go your way. It gets shaky real quick."

Grand 9, Manti 2 • The Red Devils put together a pair of four-run innings, and the pitching tandem of Dalton McElhaney and Brody Williams shut the door to eliminate the defending 2A champions.

Grand will face North Sevier on Saturday at 9 a.m. for the right to face Enterprise for the state title. The Red Devils stayed alive earlier Friday with a 6-3 victory over Emery, while the Templars erased an early 4-0 deficit after two innings and eliminated Summit Academy 14-9. —
