BYU quarterback Taysom Hill would diagram pass plays with his older brother when they were kids, tracing them out with their fingers before tossing the ball back and forth in the streets of Pocatello.

Dexter Hill, a star before Taysom at Highland High School in Idaho, was found dead in March after addiction apparently overwhelmed him.

Taysom Hill, entering his final year at BYU, tweeted Thursday night he'll change his number to No. 7 to honor Dexter's memory.

Hill's tweet, accompanied by a photo of the quarterback autographing a mini-helmet with his new number, read: "To commemorate the life of my brother Dexter, I am officially changing my number to 7 this year!!"

Taysom attributed his competitive nature to Dexter at his funeral in April as reported by The Tribune's Kurt Kragthorpe, the duo always keeping score when running routes under the street lights.

"I always wanted to be like him," Taysom Hill said. "My love of football … is because of my brother."
