Kaleb Cowart homered and Kyle McGowin pitched six strong innings Wednesday, leading Salt Lake to a 4-2 victory over Albuquerque. In front of 15,020 fans on Kids' Day, the Bees won their fifth straight game.

Turning point • Salt Lake parlayed Todd Cunningham's walk, Nick Buss' single, an error and Jett Bandy's sacrifice fly into two runs in the fifth inning, when it snapped a 1-1 tie.

Bees' MVP • In his second start since being called up from Arkansas, McGowin earned his first Triple-A win. He allowed one run on four hits. Albuquerque batters went 0 for 4 against him with runners in scoring position.

Hidden hero • Buss went 3 for 4, including a triple in the first inning. Umpire Ramon De Jesus ruled his line drive hit the chalk in left field. Isotopes catcher Ryan Casteel disagreed and was ejected.

Flashing leather • In the fifth, Salt Lake owned a 2-1 lead. With two on and one out, Albuquerque's Noel Cuevas kept the Isotopes in the game with a running catch on Jefry Marte's long blast to right center.

Quoteworthy • Asked about McGowin's outing, Salt Lake manager Keith Johnson said, "There were a lot of deep counts … but he made pitches when he needed to and got deep into the game for us."

Angel angle • Pitcher Matt Shoemaker was recalled by L.A. so he could start Wednesday's game against St. Louis. In five previous appearances for the Angels this season, he was 1-4 with a 9.15 ERA.

History lesson • On May 11, 2012, Doug Deeds drove in five runs, including three with a bases-loaded double in the sixth inning, to power Salt Lake to a 9-6 win over Round Rock.
