The Utah baseball team opened a three-game series against UCLA with a 6-4 victory on Friday night.

The Utes (15-22, 12-6 Pac-12) had a four-run second inning that put them ahead of the Bruins 4-1. UCLA (19-20, 9-10 Pac-12) cut the deficit and tied the score in the seventh before Utah pulled away.

Scaggari hit an RBI single in the seventh and Hunter Simmons hit an RBI triple in the eighth to lift Utah to 6-4.

The Bruins had two outs and the bases loaded in the eighth, but a ground out ended the inning.

Ute Jayson Rose pitched six innings and Griffin Canning pitched all eight for UCLA.

Gonzaga 9, BYU 5 • Behind a five-run fifth inning, the Bulldogs defeated the Cougars. Bronson Larsen had a home run, a double and three RBIs for BYU (28-9, 11-5 West Coast Conference).

UVU 7, CSU Bakersfield 4 • With a homer, a double and three RBIs, senior Greyson Bogden led the Wolverines over the Roadrunners. Zac Willis also scored a run for UVU (23-18, 9-7).

SLCC 3-8 Colorado Northwestern 1-11 • The Bruins split a doubleheader against Colorado Northwestern, winning the first and dropping the second.

Softball

Washington 6, Utah 0 • The Utes (30-14, 11-5) were held to just three hits and dropped their game against the Huskies.

BYU 5-5, Pacific 3-4 • The Cougars (30-17, 7-2) rallied from a 4-0 deficit in the second game and won both games in a doubleheader against the Tigers.

San Diego State 5, Utah State 4 • The Aggies opened their final road series by losing to the Aztecs. San Diego State led 1-0 going into the fifth inning before Utah State (24-22, 10-9 MW) grabbed the lead with three runs. The Aztecs responded with four runs to retake the lead and win.

Weber 11-8, Sacramento State 3-0 • The Wildcats (32-15, 13-3) won both games of the doubleheader and secured first place in the Big Sky Conference.

Seattle 6, UVU 4 • The Wolverines split a doubleheader against the Redhawks. Between both games, UVU (7-37, 3-11 WAC) was led by Tiana Hensley, with two hits and four RBIs and Brittany Vansway, with three hits and three RBIs.

SUU doubleheader postponed • The Thunderbirds' doubleheader was postponed due to weather concerns.

SLCC 6-14, Colorado Northwestern 2-2 • The Bruins triumphed in both games of a doubleheader and clinched their second consecutive Scenic West Athletic Conference title.

Men's tennis

Fresno State 4, Utah State 2 • The Aggies' best season in school history was cut short by a loss to the Bulldogs in the Mountain West quarterfinals. Luis Lopez won in straight sets to notch the sole singles point for Utah State (21-8, 6-1 MWC).

No. 61 Pepperdine 4, No. 60 BYU 3 • The Cougars (18-7, 7-2 WCC) fell to the Tigers and were eliminated from the West Coast Conference tournament. The match came down to the third singles matchup, and despite BYU's Andrey Goryachkov winning the first set, Pepperdine clinched the match.

Women's tennis

No. 47 Fresno State, Utah State 0 • In Fort Collins, Colo., the Aggies ended their season with a loss to the Bulldogs (28-8, 4-0) in the Mountain West Championship.

Utah State (11-13, 2-3 MW) had one tiebreaker, between Bulldogs' Mayar Sherif Ahmed and Nini Guensler, that ended with the Bulldogs defeating the Aggies.

Weber 4, Montana State 0 • The Wildcats won the Big Sky quarterfinals and advanced to the semifinals, where they'll play top-seeded Northern Arizona.
