Park City's Devery Karz is headed to Rio.

The 28-year-old American rower was one of nine U.S. rowers who qualified this weekend for the 2016 Olympic Summer Games in Rio de Janeiro in August.

A graduate of Park City High School and Oregon State University, Karz was named to the U.S. team Sunday during team trials in Sarasota, Fla.

This will be the first Olympic Games and fifth U.S. national team selection for Karz.

Karz and teammate Kate Berko were the last team to qualify for Rio this weekend, winning the women's lightweight double sculls — two rowers each with two oars — with a time of seven minutes and 18 seconds (7:18.50). Karz was part of the bronze-medal boat during the 2015 World Cup season and placed 10th overall at the 2014 world championships in Amsterdam, Netherlands. While with the U.S. U-23 team in 2009 Karz was part of the American crew that won a silver medal.

Karz's partner, Berko, won bronze at the last two rowing world championships as well as a silver medal at the 2013 world championships.

According to U.S. Rowing, Karz is currently a resident of Moorestown, N.J, and trains in Philadelphia, Pa.

During her time at Park City High, Karz also lettered in cross country and track. She was part of the Miners' state championship cross country team all four years.
