Salt Lake's Rafael Ortega hit a solo homer in the first inning and drove in the go-ahead run in the seventh Thursday night, leading the Bees to a 10-9 Pacific Coast League victory over Fresno on a 40-degree night at Smith's Ballpark.

Turning Point • With two on and two out in the seventh, Oretga worked the count to 3-2 before lining an RBI single to center field. Moments later, Salt Lake added two more runs to make it 10-7 when Fresno catcher Roberto Pena threw wildly on an attempted pick-off at third.

Bees MVP • Kyle Kubitza drilled a three-run double in the second inning, when Salt Lake scored four times and wiped out an early 2-1 deficit. Kubitza finished 2-for-3 with a walk. He scored twice.

Hidden Hero • Salt Lake reliever Cam Bedrosian, in his second appearance since being sent down by the Angels, pitched two scoreless innings and got credit for the win. He struck out two and walked one.

Flashing Leather • With two out in the third, Salt Lake's Rey Navarro hit a hard ground ball up the middle. It glanced off pitcher Michael Feliz to second baseman Danny Worth, whose throw beat Navarro at first to retire the side.

Angel Angle • Salt Lake pitching coach Erik Bennett has been called to the big leagues. He takes the place of L.A. bullpen coach Scott Radinsky, who will not be with the team during this weekend's series in Minnesota.

History Lesson • On April 14, 2000, Dan Cey, Dan Cey, Jay Canizaro and John Barnes each had two RBIs, leading the Buzz to an 8-4 win over Sacramento. Salt Lake scored all its runs in the first five innings off future Cy Young Award winner Barry Zito.

What's next • Salt Lake (Tyler Skaggs, 1-0) at Sacramento (Matt Lujan, 0-1), Friday, 8:05 p.m. MDT —
