Tony Kemp went 4-for-5 and Fresno pounded out 13 hits Monday night at Smith's Ballpark, leading the Grizzlies to a 5-2 victory over Salt Lake. The defeat snapped the Bees' season-opening four-game winning streak.

Turning Point • Fresno scored three runs in the seventh to wipe out a 2-1 deficit. The Grizzlies used five singles and a throwing error by Salt Lake catcher Jett Bandy to rally against reliever Chris O'Grady (0-1).

Bees MVP • Second baseman Alex Yarbrough drove in two runs with a second-inning triple. After two-out singles by Gregorio Petit and Bandy, he hit a line drive to right center that rolled to the wall.

Hidden Hero • In his first appearance since being sent down by the L.A. Angels, Cam Bedrosian pitched two scoreless innings. He allowed two hits but also struck out four. He threw 30 pitches, including 22 for strikes.

Flashing Leather • With one out in the bottom of the eighth, Salt Lake's Nick Buss hit a sinking drive to left. But Fresno's Eury Perez raced in and made a spectacular diving catch.

Quoteworthy • Manager Keith Johnson on the end of Salt Lake's winning streak: "You have to have a short memory, whether it was a good night or a bad night."

Angel Angle • The Angels recalled left-hander Greg Mahle on Monday. He made one appearance in the Bees' first four games. He allowed one hit in 12⁄3 scoreless innings in a season-opening 5-2 win over Sacramento.

HISTORY LESSON • Dyar Miller, Fresno's 69-year-old pitching coach, attended Utah State. He posted a 23-17 record with a 3.23 ERA during seven seasons in the big leagues, including 11-6 with the Angels from 1977-79.
