The Salt Lake Community College men's basketball team will play for a national title Saturday after rolling past Gillette 83-47 Friday night in an NJCAA Tournament semifinal in Hutchinson, Kan.

Conner Toolson hit five 3-pointers on his way to a game-high 20 points for the No. 13 Bruins (30-8). Also scoring in double figures for Salt Lake were Tyler Rawson (17 points) and Gibson Johnson (14). Rawson also pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds.

Salt Lake led the Pronghorns (34-1) by 25 points at the half, 45-20, and 63-27 with 13:49 remaining in the game.

In Saturday's final, Salt Lake will play No. 7 Hutchinson (32-4), an 84-81 winner over No. 11 Ranger (31-6) on Friday.

Wrestling

Utah Valley's Rauser earns All-American status • In New York, Utah Valley's Jade Rauser reeled off eight consecutive points in the third period and defeated Virginia's George DiCamillo 8-6 in the Round of 12 at the NCAA Championships to secure All-American status.

Rauser (24-8) fell to Nebraska's Eric Montoya in his final match Friday night and will wrestle for seventh place Saturday at Madison Square Garden.

He is just the second UVU wrestler in program history to achieve All-American status, joining former Wolverine Benjamin Kjar, who placed fourth at 125 pounds at the NCAA's in 2011.

Baseball

BYU 11, Pacific 4 • In Provo, the Cougars (18-1, 2-0 West Coast Conference) led 9-0 after three innings and never looked back on the way to their 12th straight victory.

Bronson Larsen homered, doubled and drove in three runs for BYU, Colton Shaver doubled and had three RBIs and Hayden Nielsen hit a home run and drove in three.

Maverick Buffo (4-0) struck out five and walked four in six innings. He allowed five hits and a run.

The Tigers fell to 6-12, 0-2.

Dixie State reaches milestone • In Alameda Calif., Dixie State won its 300th game as an NCAA Division II program in the second game of a Pacific West Conference doubleheader at Holy Names. After the Storm dropped the opener, 5-3, sophomore right-hander Dylan File (3-0) hurled a three-hit shutout to lead Dixie State (19-6, 7-4 PacWest) to a 3-0 win in the second game.

Dixie State is 300-174 in nine-plus seasons of NCAA Division II play.

Softball

Weber State splits • The Wildcats lost to Illinois 7-5, then held off San Diego 4-3 on the opening day of the San Diego Classic II in Santee, Calif.

Mackenzi Corta, Alyson Kulp, Sara Hingsberger and Krystin Kubo all hit RBI singles in the win for Weber State (14-10).

Men's tennis

Utah 4, UNLV 3 • The Utes (15-3) won the doubles point but couldn't pull away from the Rebels, who came back to tie the score at 1-1, 2-2 and 3-3.

In the deciding singles match, Utah's David Micevski defeated Alexandr Cozbinov in three sets.

BYU 4, Loyola Marymount 2 • In Provo, the visiting Lions took the doubles point but the Cougars got victories from Shane Monroe, Keaton Cullimore, Andrey Goryachkov and John Pearce to clinch the match.

Men's volleyball

No. 1 BYU 3, No. 8 Pepperdine 0 • In Provo, Ben Patch had 18 kills and Leo Durkin added 42 assists and a career-high 12 digs to lead the Cougars (17-2, 13-2 MPSF) to a 28-26, 25-19, 25-20 victory over the Waves (10-7, 9-7).
