Lubbock, Texas • The SLCC women's basketball team secured a spot in the NJCAA Elite Eight with a 66-51 win against No. 19 Vincennes.

Sophomore guard Tilar Clark led the Bruins with a game-high 23 points off 10-of-19 shooting. Andrea Brandy scored nine points and grabbed four rebounds in a reserve role. Karina Brandon had 10 rebounds and Iva Georgieva added nine points.

The Bruins outscored the Trailblazers 18-5 in the second period. Tianna Ovard hit a 3-pointer two seconds before halftime to bring SLCC's lead to 29-16.

The Trailblazers cut the deficit to seven points on a layup from Chelsea Bentley that brought the score to 42-35 with 3:56 remaining as SLCC responded with an 8-0 run.

In the fourth quarter, the Bruins pushed the gap to as many as 23 points on a 3-pointer by sophomore forward Sydnee Taylor that made the score 62-39 with 6:34 remaining.

The teams exchanged baskets over the next three minutes before a two-minute scoring drought that Vincennes guard Emily Lueken ended with a 3-pointer with 47 seconds left, the final score of the game.

Kyra Tucker scored 21 points and had six rebounds to lead Vincennes. Brooke Dossett added 18 points on 10-of-17 shooting.

The Bruins face No. 6 Trinity Valley on Thursday at 5 p.m. MDT.

Softball

Utah 12-11, Southern Utah 4-1 • The Utes swept a double-header with a pair of wins over Southern Utah, 12-4 and 11-1.

Over the two games, Utah's Kristen Stewart went 5 for 7, with three runs and four RBIs. Anissa Urtez scored five runs.

Bailie Nelson scored two runs for the Thunderbirds.

Utah improved to 18-9 overall and the T-birds fell to 3-25.
