Richfield • Diamond Ranch will be trying to duplicate Rich's accomplishment from a year ago by winning the Class 1A boys' basketball championship to go with its football title.

And that same Rich will be trying to prevent that when the Rebels meet the Diamondbacks Saturday at 5 p.m. at the Sevier Valley Center for the state championship.

The two schools took decidedly different routes into the title game.

Diamond Ranch, a private boarding school located in Hurricane, used a 21-5 margin in the fourth quarter to blast Parowan 68-38.

Rich, on the other hand, earned the right to defend its state title by capturing a thrilling 48-47 overtime win over Panguitch.

Tyus Milhollin had a big game for Diamond Ranch, scoring 35 points on 12-of-23 shooting. He got help from Bowen Sykes, who had 12 points and six boards.

Parowan was hurt by 1-for-16 shooting from the 3-point line.

The Rams were led by Trey Stubbs with 14 points and Brenen Rowley, who had 10 points and eight rebounds.

Rich won its first Class 1A boys title a year ago and will now be trying to make it two in a row, hoping to have enough in the tank to challenge talented Diamond Ranch after Friday night's emotional victory.
