Taylorsville • A Class 4A title last year for Sky View was good, but the Bobcats are a step away from one-upping themselves.

Now in Class 5A, Sky View came back from a six-point deficit to start the fourth quarter to beat American Fork 63-55 and advance into Saturday's finals.

"It feels amazing. A lot of people didn't think we'd be any good going from 4A to 5A," said Hunter Krebs, who finished with 10 points and grabbed a game-high eight rebounds. "It feels great kind of proving ourselves."

The semifinal contest was tight throughout and that American Fork lead, at 46-40, was the biggest spread of the whole evening.

But Sky View (22-2) started the fourth with a 12-4 run and took the lead on a shot by Kelsey Chapman with three minutes to go. The Bobcats had to make one final comeback, however, as American Fork (18-8) went up 55-54 when Colleen Katoa rebounded a missed shot and fed Taylor Franson for a layup with 1:24 remaining.

Kaylee Carlson, who had 17 points along with Sky View teammate Jamie Nielson, had the shot of the night to give the Bobcats a one-point lead. Carlson went into the lane and made a layup while falling to the floor with 31 seconds on the clock.

And that was followed by the controversial play of the night.

American Fork's Taylor Moeaki, who twice earlier in the quarter had driven into the lane for buckets, raced down the court and was called for a charge.

"I didn't like that call — and the ball went in. In my opinion, the way the game's going in that situation, to me that's a no-call," American Fork coach Corey Clayton said. "It was a physical game all night long, but we still had chances to hit some shots even after that."

Krebs was the key figure in the next sequence. After Carlsen hit one foul shot, she rebounded the missed second and was fouled. Sinking both ensuing tries from the charity stripe, Krebs put Sky View up 59-55 with 23 seconds left.

"I don't think any of us had a doubt that we could come back," Krebs said. "We just had confidence in each other and played great team ball."

Moeaki led the Cavemen with 14 points while Jenna Shepherd finished with 13 for American Fork.

"American Fork is a great team. They're fast, they like to run. You know what, my girls had to battle tonight," Sky View coach Vanessa Hall said. "Battle hard. I'm just so proud that they didn't give up. They kept battling and Hunter — she went to war tonight.

"That rebound at the end was just huge off the missed free throw," Hall added. Storylines
