Denver • Utah Valley junior forward Konner Frey has been named the Player of the Week in the Western Athletic Conference.

A Bountiful native, Frey averaged 16 points and 10.5 rebounds during wins over Chicago State (74-72) and Missouri-Kansas City (79-70). He shot 45 percent from the three-point line.

Other nominees for the award included Bakerfield's Kevin Mays, Chicago State's Fred Sims Jr., Grand Canyon's Ryan Majerle, New Mexico State's Pascal Siakam, Seattle's Jack Crook and UT-Rio Grande Valley's Shaquille Hines.

Utah Valley, which is 12-15 overall and 6-6 in WAC play, returns to action Saturday at Seattle.
