The Jazz shook things up, deviated from "staying the course" and added competition at the point guard spot. But from the vantage point of national sports outlets, the move was met with a resounding "meh." Here's a look at what others thought of the Shelvin Mack trade:

Sports Illustrated: B grade for the Jazz

"Utah's need for point guard help earned a measured response on Thursday, when the Jazz flipped a marginal asset for a veteran placeholder."

The Washington Post: B grade for the Jazz

"Utah has been desperate for point guard help as the Jazz try to finally get back to the playoffs, and Mack will pair nicely with Raul Neto."

Fox Sports: C+ grade for the Jazz

"The cost was minimal for Utah, and even though this was a relatively minor transaction, it could be considered a small win for both sides."

Bleacher Report: C grade for the Jazz

"A second-round pick isn't much to give up, but is Mack even going to play in Utah?"

SB Nation

"Mack isn't going to be too big of a difference maker for them, but he'll be another line on the bench that can help if Rodney Hood is in foul trouble."

CBS Sports

"Raul Neto will still get the starting spot, but Mack will help with point guard defense, which has been lacking this season."
