Cedar City, Utah • Joel Bolomboy scored a career-high 34 points with 10 rebounds and Weber State held off Southern Utah 87-83 on Thursday night.

Bolomboy was 10 of 14 from the field and 12 of 16 from the line as the Wildcats (19-7, 11-2 Big Sky) pulled even with Montana (16-8, 11-2) at the top of the conference. Weber State shot 53.5 percent and was 7 of 13 from beyond the arc. Jeremy Senglin added 15 points.

Southern Utah (4-20, 2-12) was led by James McGee with 21 points.

A close game throughout, Weber State opened a 10-point lead with 8:51 to go following an 8-1 spurt. SUU narrowed the gap to one with 6:14 to go on Juwan Major's layup. But a dunk by Bolomboy and 3-point play by Kyndahl Hill put it back to a six-point game, and Weber State held off the T-birds.

Utah Valley 74, Chicago State 72 • In Orem, Konner Frey scored 14 points and Marcel Davis sank the winning bucket to lift Utah Valley to victory.

Tied at 72 with 30 seconds left, Davis got a defensive rebound and then dropped in the winning layup just ahead of the buzzer. He finished with 12 points, nine rebounds and eight assists as Utah Valley (11-15, 5-6 Western Athletic Conference) shot 43 percent from the field and made 13 of 23 from the free-throw line to Chicago State's 5 for 6.

Ivory Young also had 12 points for the Wolverines and Jaden Jackson added 11.

Trailing by 11 points in the second half, Chicago State (4-24, 0-11) tied it up twice in the last five minutes.

Fred Sims Jr. led Chicago State with 18 points. Clemmye Owens V added 17 and Anthony Eaves had 14 for the Cougars, who have lost 15 straight.

Women's basketball

Weber State 75, Southern Utah 56 • Weber State had four players in double digits in its win over SUU.

Deeshyra Thomas led Weber State (17-7, 9-4 Big Sky) with 18 points. Kailie Quinn scored five 3-pointers and 17 points. Four Wildcats had five rebounds, including Thomas and Quinn.

Jessica Richardson led SUU (2-22, 0-14) with 15 points and 8 rebounds.

Utah Valley 69, Chicago State 62 • Deijah Blanks set a school record with 10-for-10 shooting from the field in Utah Valley's win.

Blanks had 29 points and 10 rebounds for her first career double-double. Mariah Seals and Karlee Norris had 12 and 10, respectively, for UVU (13-13, 6-5 Western Athletic Conference).

Softball

BYU 9, Hawaii 1 • In Las Vegas, Caitlyn Larsen hit two home runs and helped BYU to a win over Hawaii in the first game of the DeMarini Classic.

BYU's McKenna Bull pitched nine strikeouts and four walks. Larsen had four RBIs on two hits for BYU (4-2).

SUU 10, UNLV 7 • Payton Hart, Jordan Theurer and Kylee Wolf each scored two runs in SUU's win.
