Washington D.C. • Gordon Hayward is now reunited with a college teammate.

The Utah Jazz have acquired point guard Shelvin Mack from the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for a second round pick, Yahoo! Sports reported on Thursday afternoon. Mack and Hayward played together at Butler University.

Mack will be a backup point guard for the Jazz, with the deal being done two hours before the NBA trade deadline. As of now, the Jazz have four point guards on their roster, including Trey Burke, who the organization has made available for trade.

Mack is averaging four points a game this season, and has been the third point guard in Atlanta's rotation. For his career, he averages 5.2 ppg and 2.7 apg in 15.0 minutes, with 32 percent 3-point shooting.

If the Jazz don't trade Burke, he will play a similar role in Utah, but he does have the size to play some at shooting guard, where the Jazz are waiting for Alec Burks to return from injury.
