Pullman, Wash. • Of four players who averaged double digits for the Gillette (Wyo.) Pronghorns last season, two took the court at Beasley Coliseum on Thursday night.

This time, they suited up for different teams.

Utah junior guard Lorenzo Bonam and Washington State junior guard Renard Suggs played each other for the first time since they were teammates on last year's 29-4 Gillette squad. Bonam entered the game as a Utah starter, making his 16th start of the season, while Suggs didn't enter the game in the first half.

Bonam and Suggs were the second- and fourth-leading scorers, respectively, on a Gillette team that went to Junior College nationals last season and won 58 games during their tenure there. Bonam averaged 16.6 points per game while Suggs averaged 14.2 points per game.

Both Suggs and Bonam came to Wyoming from the Midwest: Suggs hails from Minnetonka, Minn., where he was an all-conference player in high school. His cousin, Terrell Suggs is the best-known athlete in the family as an all-pro defensive end for the Baltimore Ravens.

Ogbe, Johnson skip trip

For a long weekend trip, Utah traveled light — two players light, specifically.

Both Kenneth Ogbe and Jayce Johnson didn't make the trip to the Evergreen State.

For Ogbe, a junior guard from Germany, it was his 11th missed game in a row and 14th overall. Ogbe has missed 27 games in the past two seasons with a groin/hip injury, and coach Larry Krystkowiak said last week there's no definitive timetable for Ogbe's return. When healthy this year, Ogbe averaged 5.2 points per game with two starts.

Meanwhile, Johnson's absence seemed to indicate he's a definite redshirt for the season. Johnson joined the team in December, and Utah's initial plan was to redshirt him. While Utah's thin front court depth made Krystkowiak consider playing him this season, it appears the impulse has passed barring a significant injury.
