Lakewood, Colo. • The Westminster men's basketball team claimed a 69-64 road win at Colorado Christian on Friday night.

Westminster (7-1, 3-1 RMAC) shot a season-high 37 free throws and shot 75.7 percent in those attempts.

The Griffins opened the game with a 10-2 run. After Kenny Woodard, who had 21 points, scored near the end of the half, the Griffins led 38-28. Colorado Christian (4-6, 0-4 RMAC) had five points going into halftime to cut the Griffins lead to 38-33.

The lead reached its largest of the night, 51-39, when Woodard hit a three with 12:48 remaining. CCU mounted a 10-4 run late in the second half that concluded with the Westminster lead trimmed to 63-60 with 59.2 seconds to play. The Griffins solidified the win final six free throws.

Westminster finished the game shooting 41.9 percent from the floor.

Women's basketball

Colorado Christian 69, Westminster 45 • In Lakewood, Colo., poor shooting by the Westminster women's basketball team led to a loss at Colorado Christian.

Westminster (4-4, 1-3 RMAC) shot 28.6 percent from the field and hit five of 22 attempts from beyond the arc. Colorado Christian (5-3, 2-2) scored 24 points from 21 Griffin turnovers and shot 43.1 percent from the floor.

Riley Reidhead led the Griffins with a career-high 16 points on 5-of-8 shooting. Reidhead went 4 of 6 on 3-pointers. Mika Pinner and Denise Gonzalez each scored seven points and Jessica Sorensen grabbed nine rebounds.

The game began with a Griffin lead, but the Cougars caught up to make the score 10-6 after the first quarter and tied the game at 15-15 with 6:02 remaining in the first half. With a 13-2 run, CCU took a 28-17 lead into the half.

The Cougars advantage remained in double figures for the rest of the night.
