Lahaina, Hawaii • Perry Ellis scored 24 points on 9-of-12 shooting and No. 5 Kansas had another easy win on the way to the Maui Jim Maui Invitational championship game.

The Jayhawks (3-1) beat UCLA 92-73 on Tuesday night in the semifinals and will play No. 19 Vanderbilt, which defeated Wake Forest 86-64, for the title on Wednesday night.

It will be the second championship for either school. Vanderbilt won in Maui in 1986, and Kansas won in 1996.

Frank Mason III had 16 points, Wayne Selden Jr. scored 15 and Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk had 13 for Kansas in a game that wasn't as close as the final score. The Jayhawks were up 59-33 at halftime and by at least 20 points for all but the closing seconds of the second half.

No. 1 Kentucky 82, Boston 62 • In Lexington, Ky., Skal Labissiere scored 16 points to lead top-ranked Kentucky to victory.

The Wildcats (5-0) used a big second half to overcome the Terriers in their season debut at No. 1 in The Associated Press Top 25 poll. Kentucky struggled to put Boston University away early but outscored the Terriers 42-29 in the second half.

No. 2 Maryland 77, Illinois State 66 • In Puerto Aventuras, Mexico, Rasheed Sulaimon scored 16 points and Melo Trimble added 15 to help Maryland beat Illinois State in the Cancun Challenge.

With the game tied at 62, back-to-back 3-pointers by Jared Nickens and Sulaimon gave the Terrapins (4-0) a six-point cushion 3:45 left.

The Redbirds (2-3) tried to rally, but too many turnovers (17) stifled them.

No. 19 Vanderbilt 86, Wake Forest 64 • In Lahaina, Hawaii, Wade Baldwin IV and Damian Jones both scored 17 points, and No. 19 Vanderbilt easily handled Wake Forest in the semifinals of the Maui Jim Maui Invitational.

Jones, who grabbed 10 rebounds, was 6 for 10 from the field and Baldwin was ever better at 6 for 8. The Commodores (5-0) were never threatened in the second half and led by as many as 24 points.

N.C. State 83, No. 22 LSU 72 • In New York, Anthony "Cat" Barber scored 20 points and N.C. State needed overtime to get a victory over LSU.

Five players reached double figures for North Carolina State (3-2), which led by 12 early in the second half. Barber scored six of his points in overtime when the Wolfpack outscored the Tigers by an 18-7 margin. —
