Orem • The way Morgan and Snow Canyon battled tooth-and-nail for the Class 3A crown a year ago, in a way it didn't seem right on Thursday that either team should be able to sprint away from the other in a 3-0 sweep so typical of many of their other games in 2015.

But Morgan — now 32-0 Morgan — was too balanced, too good and too focused for anybody this time around.

At Utah Valley University, the Trojans simply destroyed the last obstacle to their perfect season in romping over the defending state champion Warriors 25-11, 25-21, 25-15.

"It's a huge deal. We're on top of the world, it feels so good," said Morgan setter Jorry Randall, who expertly led her team's offense and never let Snow Canyon get a long look at a lead at any point of the match.

"They're not only great players, these kids are good inside. You give them the day off and they want to go do service," Morgan coach Liz Wiscombe said. "It's an honor for me and a privilege to even be associated with them. I'm so happy for them, I can't stand it."

The Morgan attack centered around the usual suspects: senior outside hitter and University of Utah commit Jaiden Farr, energetic middle Aubrey Sanders and Randall running the show. But the Trojans, who also swept Desert Hills in a semifinal earlier in the day, also got a huge early boost from outside hitter Kennedy Wortman.

Wortman, who finished with 10 kills, started the match with a putaway and then two service aces as Morgan put some early distance between itself and Snow Canyon (28-4).

After the victory, Wortman acknowledged it was next to impossible for her team to put memories of the 2014 finale out of mind.

"We thought about it a lot," Wortman said. "We tried to not think about it, but we could not."

"We weren't a one-person team. It took a lot of kids. I'm proud of all these kids, and I thought Kennedy was solid," Wiscombe said. "I thought she was a key factor. She proved tonight she was."

Snow Canyon's only advantage was in the second set, when the Warriors built a 4-2 lead early. But Farr got a kill, a block and another kill to put the Trojans right back in command.

"It was a good run for us and we knew it was going to be a tough game," said Snow Canyon's standout hitter Alexsa "Crash" Parker, who was limited to nine kills. "We hoped that we could take a set, but they're a great team. They had everyone back and they were unstoppable.

"We didn't expect them to be like that," she added. "But, yeah, they earned it."

Down the last stretch of the win, almost as if to show how versatile they were, the Trojans got kills from every key offensive cog over their last five points. Farr, Sanders, Wortman and junior middle hitter Anna Cox all slammed winners to put the finishing touch on the match — and year.

"They are very special, that's all I'm going to say," Wiscombe said. "Not everyone is special, but this is a special group." —
