Logan • Utah State's ability to force turnovers and convert those Boise State mistakes into points resulted in a remarkable 52-26 victory over Boise State on Friday night at Maverik Stadium.

The Broncos had not allowed an opponent to score 50 points since 1998. Of course, the eight turnovers were the most in Boise State's Football Bowl Subdivision history.

Utah State recovered five fumbles and intercepted three passes to turn a close 10-3 battle into its 12th straight home win. The last team to defeat the Aggies in Logan: Boise State in 2013.

"This is a huge win, obviously," said Utah State linebacker Nick Vigil. "But it doesn't mean anything if we don't do anything else."

Said Utah State quarterback Kent Myers: "I'm really proud of my team — the offense and defense."

Boise's seven first-half turnovers were the difference in the game:

• With 2:12 left in the first quarter, Utah State defensive end Ricky Ali'ifua sacked Boise State quarterback Brett Rypien and forced a fumble. Aggie linebacker Kyler Fackrell recovered at the Bronco 11, setting up Myers' 10-yard touchdown pass to Hunter Sharp.

• With 17 seconds left in the first quarter, Vigil sacked Rypien, who fumbled again. Defensive end Jordan Nielsen recovered at the Boise 22. Four plays later, LaJuan Hunt ran four yards for a touchdown, giving Utah State a 24-3 lead.

• On Boise State's next possession, Aggie linebacker Torrey Green intercepted Rypien's pass and returned it nine yards to the Utah State 38. The Bronco defense held, however, and forced a punt.

• Moments later, Boise turned the ball over again when Aggie defensive back Jalen Davis intercepted Rypien's pass at the Utah State 35. But he returned the ball to midfield before fumbling it back to the Broncos near midfield.

• With 2:09 left in the half, Boise State running back Devan Demas fumbled after being hit by Aggie safety Marwin Evans. Vigil recovered at the Bronco 46 and, two plays later, Myers' 39-yard touchdown run made it 31-10.

• On the first play after Utah State scored, Rypien threw a five-yard pass to Chaz Anderson. But he fumbled after a hit by Fackrell. Cornerback Bryant Hayes recovered at the 21-yard line. On the next play, Myers passed to Sharp for another touchdown.

• On the final play of the first half, Evans intercepted Rypien's pass at the Utah State 10. He returned the ball 90 yards as time expired. The touchdown gave the Aggies a 45-10 lead. It was their third score in an 85-second span.

Said coach Matt Wells: "The stadium erupted. I couldn't hear anything on my headset."
