No fewer than five BYU football players have been added to the watch list for the inaugural Polynesian College Football Player of the Year Award.

BYU has more players on the 36-player watch list than any other school.

The award will be presented annually by the Polynesian Football Hall of Fame, which is based in Hawaii.

Defensive lineman Bronson Kaufusi headlines the list of BYU players. Kaufusi is on the watch lists for the Lombardi Award, the Nagurski Trophy and the Bednarik Award and has also been selected as an Allstate AFCA Good Works Nominee.

Fellow defensive lineman Travis Tuiloma, linebacker Manoa Pikula and offensive linemen Tuni Kanuch and Ului Lapuaho are also on the list.

The winner will be announced on Dec. 8 after the five finalists are unveiled on Nov. 19.

Former BYU coach LaVell Edwards is on the Polynesian Hall of Fame Selection Committee, which picks the finalists and the winner.
