In the dog days of August, the mind wanders to corn dogs, carnivals, cowboys, and queens. See them all in the Summit County countryside. This year's Summit County Fair runs Saturday, August 1 through Saturday, August 8, 2015.

It's a traditional small town county fair with cowboys and bucking broncos, clowns, a midway, beauty queens, home canned and baked goodies, flowers, vegetables, and more. Events are held throughout Summit County and home base is quiet, scenic Coalville.

1. Bucking broncs, bull riding, barrel racing, and roping competitions

Watch PRCA cowboys, clowns and horses show their skills at the rodeo, two nights only in Coalville! There's a junior edition, the Little Buckaroo Rodeo, too.

2. No horse? Ride your bike or run

Join the Park City Sunrise Rotary sponsored Tour de Sunrise family fun bike ride and walk Saturday morning. Registration includes being part of the parade and a chance to win a $1,500.00 bike! Or sign up for the 5k run up Border Station Road.

3. Road rage by proxy

Enjoy one of the fair's favorite attractions – the annual Demolition Derby! Get your tickets before it sells out!

4. New this year – the carnival midway

Imagine the sights and smells of the midway. There are rides for all ages, stuffed animals, novelty acts, and barkers to guess your weight, (before the corn dogs and cotton candy). Who doesn't love a great carnival?

5. Buy your bacon on the hoof

Watch the Summit County 4-H and FFA youngsters strut their own hand selected, fed and groomed livestock including steers, lambs and hogs, and see the livestock auction Saturday afternoon.

6. Live music, magic and fireworks

Magic, juggling, music, free kids events including barnyard bingo and a petting zoo, karate and dance performances are scheduled throughout the weekend. And fireworks, of course, there are fireworks! Check the fair schedule for all events.

7. Libations and shopping

In addition to traditional fair food, there are more gourmet food and vendor booths. Want to participate as a vendor? Sign up now! Adults can kick back and enjoy the wine and beer garden.

8. Firehose and water balloon fight – kids only!

Cool off and join the North Summit Fire Department kids water fight – firehose and water balloons - followed by free watermelon. What's not to like?

9. Old fashion small town parade

Watch and enjoy the marching bands, clowns and performers, horses, beauty queens, the Tour de Sunrise bicyclists, and the floats' rendition of the "County Pride County Wide" theme in beautiful, downtown Coalville.

10. Random royalty sightings

Bask in the beauty of Miss Summit County Rodeo Queen, Little Buckaroo Rodeo Queen, and Miss Summit County, and all their attendants.

All the traditional county fair exhibits, horses, home arts, culinary arts, 4-H entries, horticulture and floriculture are open to visit August 7 and 8 at 11:00 a.m. in Coalville. But that's not all. There's archery for all ages, a pie baking contest, horse drawn carriage rides, the Hired Guns Show and more!
