Donations are requested after a fire broke out early Monday at the Louisiana home of Utah redshirt freshman quarterback Donovan Isom.

The Tribune spoke Tuesday with Denise, Donovan's mother, but her voice was strained and it was difficult to hear her description of events.

She was able to relay, at least, that everybody made it out of the house alive. Her father was being treated for lung damage.

She had a message for readers: "I'd tell anybody who has a smoke alarm in their house to please keep an updated battery. That smoke alarm saved our lives."

According to the GoFundMe page: "They have lost everything, this fund will help with them purchase immediate items needed, whatever you can give will be a blessing unto them."

(In case you're wondering, our understanding is that it's not a violation of NCAA rules to donate.)

The Tribune has not yet been able to reach the local volunteer fire department or the sheriff's public information officer, but stay tuned for updates.

Isom was homecoming king while an all-metro quarterback at Destrehan High, where he teamed with incoming freshman wide receiver Alfred Smith. He did not immediately return a request for comment.
