Weber State is making its first appearance in the NCAA softball regionals, and it's going to the heart of Cajun country to do it.

The Wildcats, 38-17, meet 13th-seeded Louisiana-Lafayette (39-9) on Friday at 7 p.m. at Lamson Park.

"I am thrilled to have the opportunity to go down to play Louisiana," Weber State senior catcher Mylee Brown said in a news release. "We have been put in a position to succeed, and our hard work is playing off, but we are not done yet. This team is made for great things, and I am excited to see what this weekend brings."

The Wildcats, the third seed at the Big Sky Tournament, beat Sacramento State in the championship to qualify for the NCAAs.

Weber is let by hard-hitting junior third baseman Alyson Kupp, who recorded a team-high 76 hits this season, and pitcher McCauley Flint.

Flint, a SLCC transfer, has recorded 270 career strikeouts for the Wildcats. —
