Juan Diego and Waterford will return to Liberty Park this weekend to defend their 3A and 2A boys' high school tennis championships.

The Class 3A state meet is scheduled for Friday and Saturday at Liberty Park, while the Class 2A tournament will be held Saturday.

In Class 3A, Juan Diego's Ryan Kempin, Dixie's Micah Alba and Payson's Adam Pullan enter the No. 1 singles bracket unbeaten this year. Bear River freshman Steffen Rigby rounds out the top four seeds.

The Soaring Eagle lost star singles player Brandon Kempin, but should enter the 3A tournament as the favorite. Desert Hills could provide a challenge, though.

Waterford is led by defending No. 1 singles champion Quinn Pritchett. The Ravens will be favored, though they could potentially be challenged by Manti, which finished a distant second a year ago.
