The spring Utah high school state tournament season gets underway Wednesday with eight Class 2A soccer games followed by eight 3A first-round games Thursday.

In Class 2A, top-ranked and unbeaten American Leadership Academy hosts Emery in Spanish Fork. Other region champions include Waterford, which hosts Diamond Ranch; Delta, which hosts Rowland Hall, and Manti, which hosts Telos.

The most interesting of the Class 3A games sees Hurricane at Region 10 Juan Diego.

The Soaring Eagle have been one of the top northern teams this year but could face a challenge against Hurricane, the fourth place team from region Nine, which has won five of its last six. The Tigers' only loss came to top-ranked Dixie, a team they tied earlier in the year.

Other Class 3A league champions include Dixie, Stansbury and Payson.
