St. Joseph girls basketball coach Joe Cravens has resigned after five successful years at the helm of the Ogden Catholic school.

He said Wednesday he would stay at the school as its guidance counselor and vice president but broadcasting opportunities for Root TV, the American Sports Network and College Insiders.com were taking more and more of his time.

"I knew going into this year that it would probably be my last," he said. "The television broadcasting opportunities have grown, making it awfully hard to coach. I felt like I had three full-time jobs."

Cravens, who was the head men's coach at Weber State and Idaho as well as an interim men's coach at Utah for a year, is known for his colorful quotations and sayings.

His St. Joseph teams enjoyed great success. The Jays won two state championships and won four straight league titles. They did not lose a region game in four years.

The school expects to have a replacement sometime at the end of the month.
